My Go-To Morning Smoothie

When you are a busy individual, there is no better way to start your day than with a nutrient-packed smoothie. These are perfect for taking along to work or school. Throwing all of the ingredients in the blender takes less than 5 minutes, but if you want to save even more time you can prepare the ingredients in advance and toss in a freezer bag the night before. I am obsessed with the Magic Bullet blender because you can make individual sized smoothies and take them to go in the same cup, no clean up required! smoothie

  • Small banana (Mmm, potassium)
  • 1/2 avocado (hello healthy fats!)
  • Handful spinach or kale (greens = fibre & mega nutrients)
  • 1/2 scoop Vega protein powder with added greens
  • TBSP flax seed or chia seed (Omega 3 Fatty Acids – a treat for your brain)
  • Handful frozen berries or mixed fruit (antioxidants galore!)
  • Water (the nutrient of life)
  • Optional: a couple drops of Stevia or honey to sweeten

    1. The protein powder does take some getting used to for sure. I like having the added greens and the protein helps keep me fuller longer. You could try Greek yogurt to up the protein too!

      1. Oh yeah, greek yogurt is a staple in our home 🙂 But yeah, never could get used to the taste. My husband has a protein shake every day and just the smell of it turns my stomach!
